Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder can affect self concept, as well as personal, academic, professional and other areas of functioning. Inattention, difficulty concentrating and modulating focus, becoming easily distracted and difficulty with organization are classic symptoms. However, ADHD can present differently in neurodivergent folks, and individuals assigned female at birth. At times, unmanaged ADHD symptoms can contribute to anxiety and affect self esteem. I am fortunate to work closely with a network of psychologists who are available for diagnostic clarification and recommendations as needed. Oftentimes, a multidisciplinary approach including executive functioning skills coaching and collaboration with academic and behavioral health professionals can be beneficial, in addition to the range of ADHD medications now available.
